over 3 years ago – Tue, Jan 19, 2021 at 08:05:37 PM

Hey all,

I hope the holiday is treating you splendidly. THE PEACEKEEPERS 1 & 2 is headed off to the printer tomorrow and we are right on schedule for the promised mid-February shipping.

Fair warning... we'll be locking Backerkit orders in 48 hours (you should receive an email from them), so this is your last change to add items to THIS shipment. I say THIS shipment because the Backerkit store will remain open afterward, you can place new orders, but you may be looking additional shipping charges depending on how the chips fall.

I'll be in touch soon with some more fun news. Until then, please feel free to hit me up with any questions you might have.

Thanks so much again for coming along on this ride with me!

Stay safe out there!

The PEACEKEEPERS store is open! Surveys are coming!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Dec 08, 2020 at 11:18:37 AM

Hey all,

Some of you will receive your Backerkit surveys tonight... the site makes you first send a "smoke test" to 5% of your backers to ferret out any problems before you go out wide. The rest of you will receive yours tomorrow morning. Make sure you fill those out as quickly as possible. I essentially can't get the book off to the printer until I have the information gleaned from those surveys, so the whole enterprise currently hinges on this.

THE ADD-ON SHOP

As I alluded to before, there'll be plenty of fun add-on opportunities for you when you check out via Backerkit. The Backerkit storefront is actually already open if you want to check it out/preview things: https://thepeacekeepers.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

So, anything you missed out on rewards-wise will be in shop. You can pick up an extra copy of the book, of that variant you missed out on... there is plenty of original art and the like, and all of those badass DRAW-IN rewards will still be available for a very short time.

So, don't miss your chance to be drawn into the book...

...or put on a cover...

We're also offering full runs of my other books - the Ringo-nominated BANJAX, the Ringo Award-winning ABERRANT, and the recent Kickstarter sensation, THE JUMP - signed, in both TPD and floppy form...

You'll also be able to score some UBER rare ABERRANT and BANJAX con variants. In some cases only 50 copies of these exist in the entire world. These were only ever available at one specific con on one specific weekend, but now you can get them here.

I  thought it might be fun to highlight some of those for you...

SDCC '19 Exclusive BANJAX #1 - GREMLINS Variant

UBER rare SDCC Exclusive Banjax #1 GREMLINS variant signed by Rylend Grant. Fewer than 50 of these exist.

Baltimore Comic Con '19 Exclusive BANJAX #1 ROCKY IV Variant

BANJAX #1 - Demon in a Bottle Homage Variant

This is a PopCultHQ-exclusive Ringo-Awards Variant of BANJAX - Issue 1. It was limited to just 250 copies. Backers can get it here for just $15. It'll come SIGNED (unless you prefer otherwise). I've never signed one of these until now.

ABERRANT #1 - Weekend at Bernie's Homage Variant

This is a PopCultHQ-exclusive Ringo-Awards Variant of Aberrant - Issue 1. It was limited to just 125 copies. It'll also come SIGNED (unless you prefer otherwise). Again, I've never signed one of these until now.

SDCC '18 Exclusive ABERRANT #1 - COMING TO AMERICA Variant

SDCC ('18) Exclusive Aberrant - Issue 1 COMING TO AMERICA Variant signed by Rylend Grant. Fewer than 50 of these exists.

SDCC '19 Exclusive ABERRANT - Season 2 #1 - KARATE KID Variant

UBER Rare SDCC Exclusive Aberrant - Season 2 - Issue 1 KARATE KID Variant signed by Rylend Grant. Fewer than 50 of these exist.

UCF Exclusive ABERRANT #1 - NATTY Variant

UBER Rare Aberrant - Issue 1 UCF "Natty" variant. Made for a University of Central Florida Fundraiser. Meant to commemorate/lament the undefeated UCF Football team being left out of the '17 BCS Championship Playoff. Here, characters from ABERRANT - dressed in UCF gear - are crashing Alabama's Nation Championship celebration. Fewer than 50 made. A portion of the proceeds from this will go to the UCF fund.

Baltimore Comic Con '19/Ringo Awards Exclusive ABERRANT #4 - THE WIRE Variant

Aberrant #4 Baltimore Comic Con/Ringo Awards Exclusive THE WIRE Variant signed by Rylend Grant. Made to commemorate Issue 4's nomination for the BEST SINGLE ISSUE at the 2019 Ringo Comic Book Awards.  Fewer than 50 of these exist.

As always, if you think something is missing from the shop/there's something else you'd like to see, let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate.

THE POPCULTHQ THANK YOU VIDEO

One of the most important components to any Kickstarter campaign is the backers. You are the ones who bring these projects to life - because of your support, pledges, and social media engagement. In recognizing your importance to THE PEACEKEEPERS campaign, I have teamed up with PopCultHQ.com for a special "Thank You" to each and every one of you.

PopCultHQ will be making a special "Thank You" video and article on their website. In it, each and every backer of THE PEACEKEEPERS campaign will be mentioned by name, one-by-one. The added bonus? This will be your opportunity to plug your social media accounts and/or a brief message you'd like to shout out! You can provide your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and website urls (if applicable) and they will be mentioned in the video, as well as featured in the video's graphics. For the brief message, it can be anything along the lines of "Congrats to THE PEACEKEEPERS team!" or "Excited for this book!" or "Shout-out to my peeps in the 213!" or "Love you mom!" Anything goes! You are under no obligation to provide any or all of the above-mentioned ways. But we would still like to at least thank you by name in the video to express our appreciation for each of you.

So, keep a look out for the video survey question and let us know what you'd like included.

I hope all is well with you guys. Stay safe out there. Talk soon.

We're home!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Nov 20, 2020 at 06:04:19 PM

Hey all,

I just wanted to take a quick minute to thank you all very sincerely for helping us get accross the finish line on this. We've put together a great book for you here and we can't wait to get it in your hands.

What happens now:

Kickstarter has already charged the card you have on file.

If you got a message from Kickstarter asking you to update your payment information, pretty please do it fast! You only have one week to correct it, and we want you to get your rewards.

Other than that, your work here is done.

Once the funds are sorted (about two to three weeks), we'll send out backer surveys to get everyone's addresses. Digital rewards will go out ASAP, and then we'll send the files off to the printer, and we'll mail them to you--also ASAP.

Finally, we promise not to bombard you with messages, but we WILL keep you updated on our progress so you know what to expect.

Thanks again! Stay safe out there!

While I have you... check out this snazzy campaign from Ringo-nominee Brenton Lengel:

Snow White Zombie Apocalypse #1-3

"A brutal, bloody, and badass mashup of fairy tale magic and undead horror... if you like your comics with hyperkinetic action and pitch-black comedy, then look no further than SNOW WHITE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE."

- David Pepose (Ringo Award-Nominated Writer of SPENCER & LOCKE and GOING TO THE CHAPEL)

Snow White Zombie Apocalypse (SWZA to the cool kids) is a story unlike any other: Snow White awakens to True Love's Kiss...twenty-eight days after the zombie apocalypse! With the seven dwarves dead, the quintessential fairy tale princess must join forces with her polyamorous Prince Charming and his tough-as-nails paramour, Rapunzel, to wage a losing battle against death itself. SWZA is a story of deep woods and old magic mixed with a healthy dollop of blood, sex, kung fu, and gender politics. Way more than zombies and fairy tales as usual.

The series was created by NYC Playwright, Screenwriter and Ringo-Nominated Comic Creator Brenton Lengel. Beginning as a hit play it has enjoyed multiple productions and incarnations since its Manhattan debut. The first issue of the comics series, drawn by Dark Horse Comics alumnus & Ringo Award-nominated Inker Hyeondo Park and colored by Jio Butler, was published by Scout Comics to widespread audience and critical acclaim. It was rated one of the top 50 indie comics of 2019 and was nominated for TWO 2020 Ringo Awards along with titles from comics industry greats like Stan Sakai, Mariko Tamaki, David Pepose, Penny Arcade's Mike Krahulik & Jerry Holkins, Coleen Doran & Neil Gaiman!

The second issue was drawn by artist Luana Vecchio (of Image Comics) and was successfully funded in just ten days. The Third launched YESTERDAY and funded in less than three hours.

Like any good zombie, you just can't keep SWZA down, so take this opportunity to jump on for a face-rippingly awesome ride -- you'll be very glad that you did.

56 hours to go! $13K stretch goal announcement!!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 17, 2020 at 04:31:22 PM

Hey all,

As I type this we have about 56 hours to go. It's been tough sledding for everyone on Kickstarter these past few weeks with COVID, election, and holiday craziness gumming up the works... but we are thriving here because of you guys. I really can't thank you enough for helping to bring this book to life. I'll say it a few more times before we reach the end here, but it won't be enough.

257 fine lasses and lads have already signed up to take this journey with us. We'd like to get this book into the hands of a few more poor souls, so please... tell a friend, huh?

STETCH GOAL FUN

We smashed through our $13K Stretch Goal yesterday and that means more swag for everyone. So, right here and right now, we are officially starting the Rylend Grant Comic-verse Trading Card set!

I'm not 100% certain what it'll look like just yet... if it will be characters... iconic covers... maybe it'll be a mix of both? Suggestions are more than welcome. I do know, though, that it will be fun... and it will be epic... And I know it will include images/character/covers from Banjax, Aberrant, The Jump, The Peacekeepers, and more.

You'll receive a few cards here to start your set... and that set will be built out over time across different campaigns.

Some of my creator friends have had a lot of fun doing thing like this over the years. Charlie Stickney and Conor Hughes have done a bang up job with their WHITE ASH card set:

Anyway, I look forward to printing up all of this wonderful stuff and getting it to you. Thanks so much for all of the love here! I'll check in again before the bell rings.

Stay safe out there!

Rylend
